After having the opportunity to review and demo a couple of pedals recently from Hilibish Design, the Pessimiser and Night Destroyer, we were stoked when they sent over their latest creation. These guys don’t mess around, and today’s Deathimizer Octave Fuzz is no joke. Another collaboration with King Buzzo from The Melvins, this destructive machine is a fuzz with ear drum wrecking highs stacked with an analog two octave down circuit, creating maximum chaos. This one’s gonna be fun…
Octave fuzz pedals are generally pretty out there, but there’s something about this one that just pushes the sonic envelope even further. In addition to the Volume and Fuzz controls, there’s a Filter knob, which controls the low pass filter, for extra tone shaping where you need it. We love how the Octave control is an actual knob, instead of just a switch, too, so you can blend that low end in to a precise amount. 8-bit leads, synth sounds and unpredictable drones rule the day here, and experimentation is key to this effect’s success.
Big. Brutal. Loud. Fun. The Deathimizer King Buzzo Octave Fuzz takes it all up a notch, producing a wild array of blips, beeps, bloops, groans and more along the way. Hilbish Design keeps putting out some truly remarkable dirt pedals, and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store next.
