We’ve been fortunate to have our share of limited edition pedals come through here at Pedal of the Day, and we have another rare gem for you once again. The Sub Fuzz Pop Drive is a collaboration between Sub Pop Records and Verellen Amps, packing 2 monster dirt effects into one fairly large enclosure. Not a lot of info on these pedals out there, so we’ll do our best to explain this one…
On the left, you’ve got the Fuzz. Based on Verellen’s Big Spider Fuzz, you can coax beautiful fuzz tones out with ease, and then send your signal into chaos as you turn the knobs up. Along with Volume, Fuzz, Bass and Treble controls, you’ve got a Scoop footswitch, which provides even more shaping options. The Overdrive side boasts the usual Volume, Tone and Overdrive controls, and produces anything from a low gain boost to a gritty overdriven grind. These two side can be used separately or together, for endless sonic sculpting.
Hand-numbered and limited to only 100 units EVER MADE, the Sub Pop Verellen Sub Fuzz Pop Drive is a super-rarity, one that is definitely worth scooping up if you can find it. The versatility of each side is on display, and combining these two effects creates a monstrous wall of sound. We run through the controls and some sounds on each side in our demo below, make sure you check it out….cheers!
