Garland FX Cosmo Delay

Our pal Pat down in Houston, Texas, has been building guitar pedals since 2008 as Garland FX, continuing to churn out inventive and unique designs and circuits for every type of music. Today, we’re going to revisit the first pedal we ever came across of his, the Cosmo Delay. This is an updated version from our 2014 review (and we have a demo this time, too!), so let’s jump right in and see what space-laden adventures await…

The Cosmo Delay is a hybrid Analog-Digital delay pedal, based around a PT2399 circuit. Covering a wide range of tones, from faux reverb to near 1-second looping, this effect suits lo-fi junkies and blues rock players alike. Creating organic-sounding, cassette tape-inspired atmospheres, the Cosmo Delay provides ambience with a kick. The on-board Pre Boost feature ups your signal and tosses a little grit into the mix, reminiscent of your favorite vintage analog delay.

Mix, Time and Feedback are you other controls here, providing a versatile vessel for traveling infinite celestial landscapes. The Feedback knob gets into wild oscillation territory when turned up, and the repeats get darker as the delay time increases. There’s lots to explore in this little box, and we love that Pat was able to improve on an already stellar delay pedal. To hear this one for yourself, be sure to check out our demo below. And make sure you head over to the Garland FX website, for some handmade pedals that look and sound absolutely fantastic – cheers!
