Well, we’re super jazzed up about today pedal, one that we’ve been wanting to get our hands on for a couple of years now. The Dr. Acid Effects SkateFuzz TRIP BALLS actually has a skateboard wheel for the bypass switch…what else do you need? Besides that, though, it’s an incredibly bold and powerful fuzz, which we also can’t get enough of. If you’re a fan of skateboarding, or fuzz, or killer art in any form, you’re gonna want to stick around.
The SkateFuzz TRIP BALLS is a big Fuzz based around the “Violet Ram’s Head”. Designed using a select stash of “Tin Can” BC109 transistors, and combining them with some NOS Russian clipping diodes (KD522B), makes for a really fat-sounding fuzz. Along with Volume, Tone and Gain controls, you get the 3-way Mids switch up top, providing even more tonal flexibility. Ready to “Give Your Brain The Weekend Off”? You’ve come to the right place.
Besides just being most aesthetically pleasing, the Dr. Acid Effects SkateFuzz TRIP BALLS sounds so, so good. Going from an almost overdriven amp sound to a complete wall of fuzz, there are heaps of fun to be had with this one. The enclosure goes through a special and VERY time consuming process to get it to look how it does, too, ensuring that no two enclosures will never look the same. Made in wicked small batches, by hand, in Gold Coast, Queensland in Australia, you gotta be quick on the draw to snag one of these (or any Dr. Acid effect, really). Be sure to check out their website for more info, and you gotta hear this guy in action in our demo below – cheers!
