As we continue through our journey exploring the Dual Series pedal from Caline, we come across a must-have combo for anyone that plays heavy music. The DCP-09 Tigershark Distortion Gate combines all the crunch you need with the precision abilities to tame those tones. Again putting two other Caline effects into one enclosure, this one is sure to fit right in with any metal/stoner/doom player’s rig.
The Distortion portion (hehe) is Caline’s CP-77 Bounty Hunter Heavy Metal Distortion, a modern, high-gain dirt pedal with plenty of punch. Volume, Mid and Distortion controls adorn the top, along with a lone toggle switch. The Extreme setting here gives you a more open, modern and extreme sound, while Classic is a more compressed, vintage sound.
On the Gate side, you get one lone knob, and that’s all you need. By being able to reduce the amount of noise hum and hiss coming through your pedal chain, you clean up your sound and make the focus on the music, not the unwanted noise. When you’re not playing, you can hear the buzz from the Distortion side – simply turn the Noise dial slowly until that buzz disappears. You can set this as subtle or as bold as you want, but it’s an extremely useful tool in these high-gain situations.
The distorted sounds coming from the Caline DCP-09 Tigershark Distortion Gate are sweet and crushing, and the noise gate lets you keep them all under control. Listen for the subtle differences in our demo below, and hear how the dirt tones will rock your amp as well. Cheers once more to Caline on another excellent combo effect pedal – we’ll have another one for you shortly, so stay tuned!
