Today’s featured effects pedal has been garnering a lot of attention as of late, and once we got our hands on it, we understood why. The Horrothia FX Type One Stereo Analog Chorus Ensemble is a one-knob modulation machine, but don’t let the unassuming simplicity fool you. There’s a ton of range in this lone dial, and the unique LFO waveform makes it unlike any other chorus or vibrato pedal you’ve ever heard…
Based loosely on the classic Boss CE-1 from the mid-70’s, the Type One has a sound quality that is ethereal and encompassing. This is especially true when you run it in Stereo from the dual outputs – one is Wet and one is Dry, giving you the perfect mix of subtlety and sparkle, adding a blanket of modulation to your tone. It has also been finely tuned to give you maximum clean headroom, and is ideally run at 12v (although 9v works just fine, too).
The footswitch can be configured to work in either a Latching or Momentary setting as well, further surprising us all with the versatility found in this seemingly simple box. Working well with guitar, bass, synths and more, there’s no loss of low end when the effects is engaged, either. A well-rounded, chorus-laden powerhouse, the Type One Stereo Analogue Chorus Ensemble is a one-knob wonder we’ll never get tired of investigating. Cheers to the Horrothia FX crew on creating such a unique spin on a vintage gem – be sure to grab your headphones and dive into our demo below!
