The new DCP Series of pedals from our friends at Caline are all Dual Effects, featuring two of your favorite Caline pedals in one enclosure. With the effects ranging from overdrive to EQ to distortion to compression to fuzz and more, there’s something in this lineup for everyone. Today, we’re going to take a look at the DCP-06 Sundance Special Overdrive Boost, a powerful dual-dirt combo that packs a punch and adds to your tone.
The Overdrive side of the Sundance Special is Caline’s Orange Burst, an overdrive unit based on the Xotic BB Preamp pedal. It features up to 30dB+ clean boost with an adjustable ±15dB, a two-band active EQ which adds a wide range of harmonic content and true bypass to provide a transparent tone. The Boost side is Caline’s Recluse Boost, a one-knob clean boost pedal we have previously reviewed and demoed here at Pedal of the Day. With a range going up to +20dB of boost, you get a nice increase in sound without any tonal coloration whatsoever.
Now, the obvious thing to assume is that these two sound great on their own AND together, right? Well, that is absolutely the case, as you’ll see and hear in our demo video below. Running each by themself produces two different sounds, but running them at the same time will really light up your rig.
