The Pelion, Dirty Little Thing and Mean Bone were our first forays into the world of Kasleder FX, and seeing how impressive they were, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on another pedal from across the pond. Enter the Toxic Twins Dual Overdrive, a 2-channel classic rock mammoth that goes from clean boost to low gain to crunchy grit to balls-out, borderline distortion, all with ease. With some unconventional diodes in the circuit and plenty of organic drive on tap, this rocker is a great way to wind down a weirdo year…
On the Left side, the Toxic Twins produces a modified Bluesbreaker circuit, with tube-like saturation and warm, tube amp-like breakup. Level, Tone and Gain make up the parameters here, with a balanced EQ, sensitive dynamics and all the headroom you could ask for. Boost your current signal, grab a little bit of low-end crunch or crank it up to push your amp into the sweetest of sweet spots.
The Right side is a more boutique-style overdrive, with dynamic crunch and a classic mid hump. Level, Tone and Drive knobs let you control the saturation and punch, producing an instinctive attack that’s perfect for boosting solos. The smooth smoky clipping here also gives off a pleasant sustain, making it seem almost like the amp is feedbacking. Very cool stuff, indeed.
Each of these sides is also attached to an internal dipswitch set, with the Left side boasting various clipping options, and the Right side extending the voicing capabilities for boosting the bass. Two switches create four different options on each side, further allowing you to sculpt and shape you tone as you see fit, blending perfectly with your particular setup.
Using uncommon NOS diodes, like the 1N456 from the 60’s, the Kasleder FX Toxic Twins Dual Overdrive produces some intriguing and unusual sounds, making what you think will be yet another overdrive pedal something special and exiting right from the get-go. Cheers to Kasleder FX on another interesting and innovative creation in the large and sometimes boring world of Dirt Pedals – they’ve got a TON of wonderful creations on their website, so be sure to head over and check out all they have to offer. Don’t skip our demo below, either, if you’d like to see and hear this beast devour some eardrums…cheers!
