We recently received a big shipment of pedals all the way from Australia, from our friends at Mozztronics, and we’re going to check out Pedal #1 today. The HW-1 wHo WATT is based on a British amp from the 60’s used by The Who guitarist Pete Townshend, making it not a dirt pedal as such, but more of an emulation of this classic amp. Big and loud and awesome, this is one incredible Amp-In-A-Box…
To do full justice to the original amp, and to get the maximum in tone versatility, a full 3-knob tone stack in included in this pedal, as a single tone control wasn’t going to cut it. The Gain knob controls the amount of gain from the first stage, while Bass, Mid and Treble make up the classic 3-knob tone stack as found in the original amp. Volume, as you’d suspect, adjusts the overall output level of the pedal.
As with the amplifier this pedal replicates, you get the sparkle these amps are known and loved for at lower gain settings. Turn the Gain up for added rawkus-ness, and play with the EQ to dial in your perfect sound. The Mozztronics HW-1 wHo WATT might not make you sound EXACTLY like Mr. Townshend, but it’ll get you pretty damn close. We’ve got a couple more Mozztronics pedals coming your way, so stay tuned for those, and be sure to visit their website to peruse the many, many pedal creations they’ve got!
