We love to discover and help promote up-and-coming effects companies at Pedal of the Day, and we’ve got another relative newcomer for you guys today. The Cooltone Pedals Echoverb Delay is a simple but tone-enhancing digital delay that is an excellent starting point to either dialing in a little sparkle to your tone, or adding a bunch of echo to it. Bright yellow in color and producing bright and shining delay repeats, this is one company you should keep an eye on. Let’s see what’s the Echoverb is all about….
Built around a PT 2399 integrated circuit, the Echoverb has just a few controls, but within those lies a fairly wide spectrum of sounds to work with. Mix blends your wet and dry signals, Repeats controls the amount of echoes present and Speed sets the overall delay time. Both the input and output are buffered by a 4558 IC op amp, with high input impedance and low output impedance, which results in excellent connectivity with other pedals and no loss of tone over long cable runs. Echoverb is NOT true bypass, and the buffered bypass it enjoys allows the trails to sound out until they naturally decay after the Bypass footswitch is pressed, for a warmer, not-so-digital feel.
And, despite being digital, the more you turn up the Speed and Repeat dials, the more analog-ish it gets: warm and vintage, just minus the heavy modulation, for an excellent mix of the two delay worlds. You gotta hear this one in action, folks, starting from a faint slap-back/reverb thing and going up to a meaty, enhancing delay tone when everything is cranked, you also have a lot of options on the settings in between. A true plug-and-play delay, there’s no giant manual for this one, just a great-sounding echo that anyone could use. Cheers to Cooltone Pedals on this one – it’s the first of a few that we’re going to check out, so be sure to keep your eyes and ears open, and don’t forget to watch our demo below and subscribe!
