Fairfield Circuitry Hors d'Oeuvre? Active Feedback Loop

Forcing us to approach how we think about and create music helps keep it all fresh and in perspective, and that’s exactly what today’s piece of gear does. The Fairfield Circuitry Hors d’Oeuvre? Active Feedback Loop lets you put together as many of your favorites pedals as you’d like, then tweak and manipulate them in odd and exciting ways. Want to inject something new into your rig? The Hors d’Oeuvre? lets you plug external effects into a feedback loop, then use differing input levels and phase polarity to alter the sounds they create. We ran our PRS CE24 into the Input, then out to a Strymon Iridium for the base connection. Next, we took the Bluewhale Pedals FuzzDrive, Mu-Tron Phasor III and Danelectro Dan-Echo pedals and plugged them into the Send and Return jacks on the Hors d’Oeuvre?. The Dry knob here controls the input signal level at the OUT jack, mixing in your main signal source with the loop. The Wet knob sets the return signal level at the OUT jack, and the Feed knob sets the return signal level at the SEND jack. These two also feature a +/- phase switch, which opens up more sonic possibilities with ease.

The result of this experiment is the twisting, bending and warping of what would perhaps be a normal effects chain. From droning to big ambience to dirty noisemaking and more, this is a pedal that you need to witness in person. For a hint of what it can do, though, please check out our demo below – the fuzz, phaser and delay effects playing together in the feedback loop are something else, and will showcase just a hint of what’s possible here.
