Walrus Audio Julianna Deluxe Stereo Chorus Vibrato

The Julia from Walrus Audio has become one of the true go-to chorus and vibrato effects pedals since its release a couple of years back. As powerful and accessible as it is, there were a couple of options that the pedal community longed for, and their requests have finally been answered. The all new Julianna Deluxe Chorus Vibrato adds a number of features to an already incredible design, making this the new front-runner for Modulation Pedal of the Year. Well, maybe not, since there are so many wonderful options out there, but this one sounds really, really good…

For an in-depth overview of the original Julia, head to our review HERE. Today, let’s focus on the new stuff that Julianna brings to the table. First off, one of the main things we all wanted…TAP TEMPO!! Now you can set the rate of the LFO with the Rate knob OR the tap tempo switch, for hands-free operation. There are now also Stereo In/Out Jacks, which let you run the pedal mono in/mono out, mono in/stereo out or stereo in/stereo out, perfectly fitting into any rig. Also new is the Momentary Secondary LFO Speed, helping to ramp up or slow down to a second LFO rate, and the Drift function, which gently speeds up and slows down the LFO rate, kinda like having a little robot inside your pedal moving the Rate knob up and down.

In addition to sine and triangle, Julianna adds a Random wave shape option to modulate the pitch of your signal. The Tap Division switch selects Quarter Note, Quarter Note Triplet or Eighth Note Multiplier to scale a tapped-in tempo. There’s even an Expression Control that lets you set Depth, Rate or both with an expression pedal, as well as an external tap input. And you really have to run this one in Stereo to feel the full power and potential of the modulation, using the D-C-V knob to manipulate the stereo field. We did just that in our demo video below, so be sure to check it out and subscribe to our YouTube channel – cheers to the Walrus Audio crew on the amazing Julianna Deluxe Chorus Vibrato – we’re going to sit back and enjoy this one for years to come…
