The guys at Analog Alien have been making incredible effects for years, and we’re excited to check out another one of their creations today. Going in a different direction than the FuzzBubble 45 and Alien Comp pedals, the Rumble Seat mixes Overdrive, Delay and Reverb into one gorgeous orange unit, saving valuable pedalboard real estate and giving you three primo effects in one convenient place. Let’s dive in and see what this one os all about!
The Overdrive portion, the Rumble Drive, covers everything from subtle tone enhancement to full-on crunchy overdrive. The simple 3-knob control section consists of Output, Tone and Gain knobs, the perfect trifecta for any great drive sound. Based on a vintage Marshall 69 Plexi amp, you feel the power of this overdrive as soon as you click it on. It also works wonders as a clean boost, and stacks nicely with other drive, fuzz and distortion pedals as well.
The Delay section is simple and powerful as well. Delay, Repeats and Mix are the parameters here, and support a nice delay time range from 25-650ms. The circuit itself is very natural and smooth, retaining your guitar’s low end at any settings. Slap back, rockabilly, psychedelic sounds and more are readily available here. Working this section in with the Overdrive produces some incredible, tape echo-like tones as well. As for the Reverb, one knob says it all. You want a little? You got it. You want a lot? Just turn the solo dial and you’re there. Based off of the classic Fender Blackface amps, this ‘verb goes from a mild case of warmth to an out-of-body sonic experience in seconds flat.
When the three effects from the Analog Alien Rumble Seat are played together, the possibilities are truly endless. So much to explore in this pedal, we loved sitting down and discovering what sounds we could conjure up, and there were plenty. Our demo video below runs through each section separately, then combines these effects in different combinations and with different settings, showing off just a hint of what you can accomplish with the Rumble Seat.
