Welcome to another adventure into the mind of Walrus Audio – today, we’re heading back in time just a bit, to the Age of Overdrive. The OKC crew hasn’t released a new dirt pedal since 2016, and given how much we’ve enjoyed their previous ventures in this genre, we were pretty stoked. The Walrus Audio Ages Five-State Overdrive gives you unforgettable sounds, a ton of sonic options and all the boost/drive you’ll need to cut through the mix.

There are five different modes to choose from with the Ages, giving you a wide spectrum of sounds to discover and create with. Volume sets your output, and it changes with each gain stage, helping you find the sweet spot in any configuration. Gain controls the amount of gain applied to the signal passing through the overdrive circuit, and the dual EQ knobs, Treb and Bass, let you boost to cut the high and low frequencies as needed, working with single coils and humbuckers alike.

The five-position rotary knob offers the following gain states:

I. Low-gain mode with symmetric silicon soft clipping; compressed and smooth
II. Low-gain mode with symmetric LED soft clipping; pushed, open, and sparkly
III. High-gain mode with symmetric silicon soft clipping; increased saturation and tight
IV. High-gain mode with symmetric LED soft clipping; saturated, punchy and big
V. High-gain mode with symmetric silicon hard clipping; heavy compression, thick and chewy

These overdrive gain states produce such a HUGE number of tasty tones, we were impressed and astounded by the broad spectrum available in such an easy-to-use pedal. Boost your original signal, add in a bit of crunch or go balls-out and rock some faces off – the choices are yours, and the choices are many.
