KMA Machines Cirrus Spatial-Temporal Modifier Delay Reverb

We’ve always had our eye on the creations coming out of the KMA Machines camp, and have been lucky enough to demo several, including the Horizont, Queequeg, Wurm, Dead Stag and more. We were, of course, excited when we found out they were doing a Delay/Reverb pedal, but we had no idea it was going to be what today’s featured pedal turned out to be. The KMA Machines Cirrus Spatial-Temporal Modifier features blendable Delay and Reverb sides, tap tempo, tons of modulation and all the ambience you’re ever going to need. Well, maybe not, but there’s a lot.

On the Delay side, Time sets your delay time, up to 1.5 seconds if needed. Delay is your blend control – turn all the way left to turn this mode off, all the way right is 100% wet. Repeats sets the number of echoes, from a single slap back to infinite faux loops, while the Subdivision switch lets you select from no division, dotted eighth or triplet note divisions. There’s a Delay Mode toggle as well, letting you choose from Modulated, Sample/Hold or Octave delay modes. The Sensitivity knob controls the sensitivity for the envelope features on each of these modes, differing depending which one you’re in. Cirrus boasts a Tap Tempo switch, too, which will set your delay time AND will max out your delay when held down…

On the Reverb side, Reverb is your blend control, while Decay controls the decay of the reverb, from small room to an infinite space. A Mode switch allows you to pick from a closing High-Pass Filter, an opening Low-Pass Filter or Modulated reverb modes. Once again, the Sensitivity knob controls differing aspects of each of these modes, setting modulation depth and frequency cut-offs. The Damp knob sets the high-frequency response of the ‘verb, and a Delay/Reverb toggle lets you choose the order of these two effects in your signal chain.

Time, Repeats, Sensitivity, Damp and Decay can all be controlled externally via an Expression pedal and the large middle knob, and there’s even an FX loop which lets you insert any pedal(s) before the Delay/Reverb sounds. We dive in pretty deep in the demo below, so be sure to slap on some headphones and listen to this beauty in action. The KMA Machines Cirrus Spatial-Temporal Modifier conjures up elaborate dream sequences, open sky cloudscapes and dreamy, ethereal sonic journeys, and that’s just in the first 3 minutes after you turn it on. Kudos to the KMA crew, Cirrus is an incredible machine that will be talked about for years to come. Visit their website from more info, and we’ll see you next time.
