There have been a slew of incredible delay pedals coming through the shop recently. From the Bondi Art Van Delay and Keeley ECCOS to the Demedash T-120, RedShift Mirage, Walrus D1 and more, this has been a pretty delay-filled last couple of months, so we thought we’d keep it going with another tasty echo pedal for you today. The NativeAudio Wilderness Delay V1.5 expands slightly on what the original was capable of, without losing any analog voicing or vintage modulation. With a nice set of options and plenty of delicious delay on tap, this one can hang with any pedal out there.
The Wilderness Delay offers you up to 1000ms of delay time, but lets you access it through various means. There are two main modes to work with here: Tap and Ramp. In Tap mode, you can use the Control footswitch to tap in your delay tempo, which is also affected by the “slow(fast)” knob. In Tap mode, this parameter lets you choose from 4 different tap subdivisions – Quarter note, Eighth note, Dotted Eighth note and Triplet, for a wide range of times and tempos to work with.
Switching over to Ramp mode, the “slow(fast)” knob performs differently than in Tap mode. Here, it strictly affects the slow-to-fast delay times, up to just about 1 second at max. This mode is really fun in that you can set both the Slow and Fast delay times, then use the Control footswitch to “ramp” back up and down in between them, creating wild, on-the-fly echoes. In both modes, the Control switch can also be performed using an external, normally-open, non-latching switch, accessible via the Ext.1/4″ jack on the side.
But wait! More controls are here to wow and astonish you, folks! ‘Mix’ lets you blend your Wet and Dry signals, while ‘Feedback’ sets the number of repeats (this one gets out there when cranked up). There’s also an entire Modulation section, featuring ‘Depth’ and ‘Rate’ knobs, which adds in some subtle, vintage sounds, warbly, vibrato-induced swells and all-out psychedelic mayhem at higher levels. The Modulation can be slight or extremely bold, depending on whatever it is you’re after.
The NativeAudio Wilderness Delay V1.5 combines warm, analog delay sounds with pitch-shifting, tremolo and other effects, to create a unique and wonderful pedal. Featuring gorgeous artwork and a ton of sonic options, this delay is one that can give any other echo out there a run for its money, and we’re excited to have had this as the first of hopefully many NativeAudio pedals we had the privilege to check out.
