A couple months back, we reviewed our first pedal from a company that’s doing its best not to promote itself, AboveGroundFX. The Tone Control Booster was a nice surprise of a pedal, very amp-like and responsive, something that can sometimes be hard to find in pedals around its price point. Today, we get to check out another effect from the AboveGroundFX lineup, a deceptively simple-looking delay that conjures up vintage tape delay tones from decades gone by with ease….here is the Rebote Delay.
Designed as a take on the tape echo machines of yesteryear, the Rebote Delay is a pretty impressive emulator of classic delay tones. The circuit takes the dry signal to the output, while maintaining its bandwidth integrity, then each repeat is filtered in a way that resembles tape technology. The quality of the Repeats degrades as the Time of the delay is increased, creating a distinct tone between the wet and dry signals. And with a max delay time of around 560 milliseconds, you’re sure to be able to dial in a killer analog tone in no time flat.
Once again, we’re not too sure what happened to this company, if they even still exist or if they’ve disappeared without a trace, but we’re glad that we got our hands on a couple of their pedals, especially this Rebote Delay. If you’re a doubter due to the lack of a fancy control section, just check out our demo below, to see and hear all that this little grey wonder is capable of doing. You can go visit the AboveGroundFX website for more info about their pedals, but there’s not many place to purchase them, so if you see one in the wild, be sure and snatch it up…REAL QUICK-LIKE!
