Alexander Pedals Oblivion Vintage Delay

Another delay is upon us, friends, and this one has got some crazy features, interesting textures and gorgeous sounds throughout. The Oblivion Vintage Delay comes to us from Alexander Pedals, and is an “exploration of what exists in the darkest corners of the sonic universe.” Able to span decades in a single pedal, this glorious echo brings vintage sounds, warm delays and even a tasty bit of modulation along on its delectable auditory journey.

Bypass turns the Oblivion on or off, and can also be used to select Presets by holding it down. You can use the Tap switch to set the tempo, as well as Save to store your current settings onto the active preset. Mix blends your wet and dry signals, while Time sets your overall delay time, with a tasty range from 10ms – 900ms. Repeat controls the feedback of the delay effect, and Rate and Depth set the speed and intensity, respectively, of the added-on modulation.

As far as the modes go, Analog starts things off, and gives you a warm, murky, BBD-inspired echo tone. Tape conjures up magnetic tape bliss, via sounds from the earliest tape echo units from over 50 years ago. Oilcan is a mode we don’t see often enough on delays these days, but one that is surely welcome – based on electrostatic delay line effects introduced in the 60s, the sounds here are dark, brooding, watery and classic. Multi rounds out these four modes, and boasts a multi-head delay that spirals off into the unknown, creating exquisite patterns that careen off into beautiful chaos.

You can morph between two completely different settings via the Expression pedal jack, and there’s even MIDI control (for those of you who are good with that sort of thing). Use the Shift button to unlock a slew of hidden settings as well, including Boost, Wave, Tone and more as well. An exciting and intriguing delay to say the least, the Oblivion is a Vintage Delay in every aspect….well, actually, it’s four of them in one, so the more the merrier! Be sure to hear it take flight in our demo vid below, and hope that you can come across one in your search for the perfect tone!
