Another 2-in-1 pedal is upon us! This time, it’s a bit of an unusual pairing: Overdrive and Fuzz. Now, you may say to yourself, “That’s not weird,” but surprisingly, that combo isn’t seen all that often. Fuzz/Octave, sure; Overdrive/Boost, absolutely. Overdrive/Fuzz? Not so much, so we were super excited to check out the Pink Hellephant from Stomp Under Foot.
The Overdrive side of the Pink Hellephant features Level, Gain and Tone controls; nothing to crazy here. This side is a low-medium gain overdrive, boasting vintage sounds and amp-pushing capabilities as well. The Fuzz side here is Fuzz Face inspired, giving off classic silicon fuzz sounds from its Level and Fuzz controls. You can control these sides individually, or stack them together for a powerful drive/fuzz combo, sure to send your audience back to their glory days in an instant.
The only wish here would be for an Order toggle switch, but that is definitely not a make-or-break for this dirty wonder. Built exclusively for the good folks at Mass Street Music, the Pink Hellephant is an extremely versatile dirt box. Not as full-on power-filled as some dirt pedals may be, but then again, it’s not trying to be something it isn’t, either. Focusing on classic rock and roll tones and simplicity in its controls, this custom pedal will suit the needs of just about anyone who is privileged enough to play it.
