The T-Rex Effects Replicator Junior Tape Echo was one of our favorite delays that has ever come through the office, and we were excited to see if there were any more delays made by this fantastic company from Denmark. As luck would have it, we stumbled across today’s pedal, the Replay Box Stereo Delay, an extremely small but wicked powerful straightforward delay, with stereo options and 3, count them THREE, seconds of delay time. Needless to say, we were impressed and intrigued – let’s see what this mini guy can do!
Volume, Repeat, Mix and Tempo (Time) are pretty much staples on a lot of delay pedals, but there’s more to this seemingly simple machine than meets the eye (or ear, for that matter). The hardware inside has been specially designed to emulate a high-end studio delay, and features that incredible three seconds of delay time, more than enough for anyone to be able to use. Your Dry signal remains untainted, keeping it pristine and sparkling, with a glorious hint of delay on the back end. There’s a Tap Tempo footswitch that gives you access to hands-free delay time setting as well, making it a staple to use in live and studio applications.
WAIT! THERE’S MORE! The Replay Box also boasts a Subdivision switch, letting you choose from quarter, triplet or the sought-after dotted-eighth delay subdivisions, opening up a wide spectrum of echo possibilities with ease. The Stereo Inputs and Outputs give you TRUE Stereo capabilities, assuring that the Replay Box will ease right into any setup or pedalboard, regardless of its complexity or routing options. It’s simple to use, packed with incredible features and the sound is solid as a rock. Plus, there’s no way you’re going to pack all this into a smaller enclosure (we’re fairly certain, anyway).
A different beast from the Replicator Junior or Reptile Modulation Delay from T-Rex, the Replay Box is a clean, straight-ahead, no-nonsense delay pedal, in perfect shape and size dimensions to use anywhere and everywhere you need or want. There were some rumors going around that T-Rex was going out of business, but we’re glad to say that is NOT the case, and they’re planning on coming back stronger and better than ever.
