Henretta Engineering Tremble Tank Tremolo Reverb

The small, powerful, one-button effects pedals from Henretta Engineering have been some of our favorites over the years, but we also like it when they combine a couple of ’em into one slightly larger enclosure. Recently, we saw the power of the Lake Effect, which combined their Bluebird Fuzz and Crimson Tremolo, as well as the Planetarium, which paired up the Moody Blue Reverb and Golden Years Phaser. Today, we bring you another of these tasty creations, the Tremble Tank, which this time takes the Moody Blue Reverb and Crimson Tremolo and squishes them into a nice, top-mounted jack enclosure, perfect for any pedalboard.

Each side of the Tremble Tank features its own footswitch, so you can use the reverb and tremolo independently, or in unison, for a wild ride full of sonic flare. The Tremolo side is a volume modulation circuit that creates an effect similar to that found on classic amplifiers, and has two controls, Depth and Speed. The Reverb side uses a “brick” style digital module, blending the effect in with your dry analog signal, going from snappy slapback to spring reverb sounds to all-out ambient bliss. The Decay knob simply increases the reverb’s decay time as you turn it up, with some wild self-oscillation sounds coming on strong at around 4:00 or so.

You can also use the lone toggle switch to choose the order the effects go in in your chain, either Tremolo > Reverb or Reverb > Tremolo, for more fun and experimentation. The T > R setting gives you a more intense Fender amp-style sound, while the R > T gives off a more Vox-like vibe, with a more natural, smoother decay and room reverb tone. Either way you slice it, the combination of these two effects is genius, and the array of sounds you can conjure up with just a few simple controls is truly astonishing. Hats off to Kevin and the Henretta crew once again on a job brilliantly done – check out their website for more fine creations, check out our other Henretta reviews here on our site and, as always, please make sure to check out our demo of the Tremble Tank below (and don’t forget to subscribe while you’re there!).
