We love it when we discover a new pedal company, one that we were previously unaware of that just blows us away right off the bat. The crew at D-Sound Effects did just that with today’s impressive dirt pedal, the Fisherman High-Gain Distortion. This multi-faceted beast gives you a nice range of tonal options to choose from, letting you create a solid drive sound from the ground up. Let’s check it out!
The Fisherman is a compact pedal with a “British-style” distortion character. The six-knob control layout is more than welcome, as you can actually shape the sound to fit any gain needs you might have. Volume, Gain, Treble and Bass are present, as you’d probably expect, but there are two dials not super often seen in a pedal like this. Presence helps to really tweak those high-range frequencies, while Tight adds in a slight bit of fuzziness to the tone, changing the low end frequencies to give a fatter, denser sound. There’s even an internal trimmer that can adjust the overall level of overdrive, too, if you feel like really digging in.
In addition, you can run the Fisherman at either 9v or 18v, if you want that extra push of headroom. No shortage of power here, this monster gives you saturated distortion with excellent dynamics, like a cranked up tube amp, but in pedal form. Going from a tight crunch to all-out high-gain madness, the range and options will make this effect a permanent staple on any pedalboard. Thanks to the D-Sound Effects crew for starting off on the right foot – we’ve got more incredible gear from these guys coming at you soon, so be sure to check out their gear, and listen to the Fisherman in action in our demo below!
