When we started doing our YouTube series “The Klone Wars”, we had a number of klones on our list that we wanted to include, and today’s pedals was one of those. The Gladiator Overdrive from AD Pedals is based on that certain mystical pedal that few of us can afford, but with a little more grit and dirt to it. Get ready to get shot down in a blaze of glory with this one, people – it’s a rocker!
The range of overdriven sounds available as you sweep through the Gain knob is big, with two different distortion sounds at either end of the spectrum, and the cleaner sounds focused more at around 10-11:00. The Tone knob gives you a nice EQ range, too, perfect for dialing in a cleaner boost, or adding high/low end to your overdriven sound. The Volume knob controls your overall output level, with no shortage of loudness available at the drop of a hat.
That’s about it: the Gladiator takes elements of the famous Klon pedal, and then puts its own spin on those tones, creating a new and exciting overdrive/boost with lots of range to experiment with. Our demo below gives you some examples of how different settings sound on this overdrive (plus, takes you back to the early 90’s with a sweet tune!), so be sure to check it out and let us know what you think. And, of course, head over to the AD Pedals shop to grab one of these copper beauties for yourself!
