Henretta Engineering Lake Effect Fuzz Tremolo

We’ve always loved the simplicity of the majority of lineup from Henretta Engineering, but were pretty excited for today’s 2-in-1 pedal. In collaboration with Chicago Music Exchange, the Lake Effect combines Henretta’s Bluebird Fuzz and Crimson Tremolo into one enclosure, and adds a couple of options as well. Taking two great effects and smashing them into one box is usually a pretty great plan, and this one was executed to perfection.

Starting with the Bluebird, we get a no-nonsense fuzz effect, providing thick, warm and huge fuzzy overtones. Here, you get 2 external controls: one for Volume and one for Tone, providing an ample amount of fuzz-laden sounds to work with. On the tremolo side, we’ve got the Crimson, a volume modulation effect with controls for Speed and Depth. The sounds produced here are natural-sounding and smooth, providing pulsing beats, sonic ebbs and flows and a real unique flavor to add to your tone. In addition, there is a lone toggle switch that lets you set the order of these two effects: either Fuzz into Tremolo, or Tremolo into Fuzz, for differing and exploratory results.

A slight departure from their usually small, internally-controlled effects, the Lake Effect from Henretta Engineering is a welcome combination of two of their great effects. Fitting seamlessly into any setup, the effects can be used individually or together, for a wide range of sounds to compliment your playing and style. Thanks to Henretta Engineering and Chicago Music Exchange for an awesome 2-in-1 pedal – hopefully they’ll team up for another on in the near future!
