Loophole Pedals thrives on their ability to navigate the unique tones these delay produce and add useful, thoughtful and exciting mods to them, turning an already great pedal into an exquisite one. Today we’re going to check out the TC Electronic Alter Ego x4 Vintage Delay Looper, and see what a few simple mods can do to really open up this marvelous effect.
Here’s what Loophole Pedals did to our lovely Alter Ego x4:
Footswitch Upgrade Mod: Replaces the cheap surface mounted actuators with heavy-duty chassis mounted clickless switches
Feedback Mod: This mod adds an onboard foot-switch to give you infinite oscillations. This switch essentially maxes out the feedback control for as long as it is held down
Looper Mod: This mod adds a footswitch to quickly enter and exit looper mode and replaces the toggle switch with a two-color led to designate the mode
These mods, as you’ll see in our demo video below, really push the Alter Ego x4 to make it into a more useful and better-sounding digital delay. The new footswitches are a vast improvement, the ability to go directly to Looper Mode is an excellent addition and the Feedback Mod instantly adds a new dimension to your sound. The mod selections at Loophole Pedals are quite extensive these days, ranging from Boss to EarthQuaker to Line 6 and more – be sure to check their site to find ways to improve upon your own tasty pedals. They also have their flagship pedal, the Grey Matter Overdrive, ready for production, which you can check out right here. Enjoy!
*and Happy 4/20, everybody!*
