Unleashing a fury of dirty fuzz tones that cover a large range, today’s featured pedal comes to us all the way from New Zealand. Apparently, they know how to make a pretty decent pedal down there, as the Caustic Fuzz from Pepers’ Pedals is a true powerhouse in the world of effects. While we’ve had a couple of guest reviews for Tony Pepers and his lineup, this is the first one we’ve gotten our hands on, and folks, it was worth the wait…
The Silicon and NOS Germanium transistors inside the Caustic Fuzz are measured and hand-picked, creating a wide spectrum of fuzz tones, ranging from splattery, gated fuzz to a thick, over-saturated wall of noise. Decant sets the overall output level of the pedal, while pH acts as a Tone control/Treble boost. The Hazard knob sets the saturation between the Silicon and Germanium transistors, dialing in some nastiness as it is increased, while Dissolve controls the amount of Gain present in your signal.
Hand built in small runs by in Dunedin, New Zealand, using high quality parts, NOS Cold war era GE transistors and featuring true bypass switching, all in a small 1590B enclosure, this is one bad ass pedal. With all of the knobs to dial in, and so many settings to choose from with each dial, the Caustic Fuzz is the buzzy, kiwi-inspired fuzz pedal you’ve been searching for. Be sure to check out our demo below, featuring a new-ish kind of format, and visit the Pepers’ Pedal Facebook and Reverb pages to get a hold of some of this killer gear for yourself!
