Last month, we checked out an extremely underrated pedal from the past, one that really deserves to be talked about more: the DigiTech HardWire DL-8 Stereo Delay Looper. Not being able to help ourselves, we found a counterpart pedal to that beauty, and have it for you today. The RV-7 Stereo Reverb fits in perfectly next to its delay brother, offering up reverberated tones featuring everything from jazz room to surf rock spring to gates and modulation and more, pretty much covering all your reverb needs. Let’s check it out, shall we?
Using genuine Lexicon® reverbs for true stereo processing and operation, the RV-7 is host to 7 differing reverb modes. These include Room (fast decay), Plate (classic studio verb), Reverse, Modulated, Gated (abrupt decay), Hall (large, warm) and Spring (surf/rockabilly). Each of these modes possesses its own unique brand of reverb, giving you a wide tonal palette from which to create your signature sound, or emulate your favorite recordings. The stereo operation option makes sure that your reverb tones are wide, sweeping and will fill any room you’re playing, from a small bar to Madison Square Garden.
There’s a tails switch located under the footswitch, too, and it allows you to select whether or not you’d like the reverb effect to continue to be heard and fade out after you’ve bypassed it. Great for a two amp setup, or a single amp with a built-in effects loop, this is one powerful reverberator. The HardWire series of pedals, though no longer in production, have garnered somewhat of a cult following, and judging by the RV-7 and DL-8, we absolutely see why.
