The Carbon Copy from MXR and Jim Dunlop has become a real leader in the way of modern analog delay pedals over the last decade, so it was a welcome sight to see that they decided to release another version of this gem. The Carbon Copy Bright gives you everything that you’ve come to know and love about the original, with a bit of a twist. Let’s see what this lime green gem has in store for us today….
As with the original Carbon Copy, this Bright version features 100% analog bucket-brigade technology, with up to 600ms of delay time and switchable modulation with the press of a button (you can adjust the width and speed of the modulation internally). Delay sets your delay time, Mix blends your dry signal with the effect and Regen sets the number of repeats. True bypass switching keeps your signal nice and quiet when you’re in bypass mode as well.
The difference between these two pedals comes at the Repeats portion – where the original echoes are dark and mellow, the Bright’s repeats are more defined, with a more distinct vocal quality and enhanced frequency range. Both versions play nicely with each other as well, if you’re looking for an awesome one-two analog delay punch to add to your rig. The modulation tops everything off, adding a deliciously shimmered chorus effect to the delay, enhancing the tone and your own chords and lead runs.
The same gorgeous analog delay tones you’ve come to know and love are present here once again with the Carbon Copy Bright, only with a bit more sparkle and shine than its moodier, brooding counterpart. Make your presence known and stand out more on stage with a punchier, shimmering delay effect that will wow the crowd and the rest of your band alike.
