Today’s featured pedal brings to the table a slew of delay modes to choose from, as well as a built-in looper function, external switching capabilities and more. The Canyon Delay Looper from Electro-Harmonix packs a TON of features into a less-than-normal sized enclosure, giving you a lot without sacrificing any space on your board.
The Canyon gives you pretty much all the delay options you could ever want, via the 11 different modes you can choose from. The delay modes include: ECHO (digital delay), MOD (modulated delay), MULTI (multi-tap delay), REVRS (reverse delay), DMM (Deluxe Memory Man), TAPE (tape delay), VERB (reverb plus delay), OCT (octave delay) and SHIM (shimmer). The range of delay times throughout these modes goes from 5 ms to 3 FULL seconds, plenty of time on tap for just about everyone (if you need longer than 3 seconds, well…..)
There’s also a Sample and Hold mode, which is lots of fun, as well as the full Looper mode. Here, you can record and playback, with a maximum loop time of 62 SECONDS! WHAAAAAT? That’s right, folks, 62 big ones. Use this to practice against chords, create big, vast soundscapes and even double your guitar sound in the studio or on stage.
A tails switch lets you select whether your echoes repeat or stop immediately when the pedal is bypassed, and there are even a set of hidden parameters accessible via the Secondary Knob Mode, for even more functionality and tonal choices. Plus, you can use the footswitch to control your tap tempo, or use an external switch to set the tempo from a different spot in your rig. All in all, this little white gem provides loads of exploration and entertainment, and will keep you on your toes as you weave through all it has to offer.
