Sioux Guitars Dakota County Analog DelayDelay is one of our favorite effects – analog, digital, echo, modulated….it doesn’t matter. It always adds some mystique and mystery to any tone or setup, usually getting out into the sonic stratosphere to produce wild, unruly and unexpected tones, something we are huge fans of. Today’s delay pedal has a smooth balance of subtle and extreme, giving you a nice range of options and sounds to play with. The Dakota County from Sioux Guitars features multiple output configurations, warm analog flavors and deep, brooding echoes that will penetrate your very soul….

So, this pedal has numerous output setups that you can use, which vastly affect the control section. Using the Mix output brings the Mix and Level controls into play, but we chose to forgo those and deal strictly with the Wet and Dry outs for today’s demo. In this scenario, each output goes to a different amp, negating the aforementioned controls, and leaving just the Delay and Feedback knobs to control the sounds produced. The Delay control itself featured a maximum delay time of almost ONE FULL SECOND, which is fairly rare for an analog delay. Combine that with the Feedback knob, which sets the number of repeats, and you’ve got an all-killer, no-filler analog delay.

The Feedback knob can get extremely intense as well. Crank it up past about 3:00 or so, and the Dakota County turns into a self-feedbacking, oscillation, terror of an effect. Crank it and the Delay knob up, and get ready to blast off into outer space, for real. The echoes here are clean and crisp, too, but still somehow give off that warm and vintage analog tone. Not sure what’s going on inside this red menace, but the circuitry is doing its job, not to mention this pedal is built like an absolute tank and a half.

Sioux Guitars LogoMono Delay? Sure. Stereo Delay? Yes. Dual amp setups with ease? Absolutely. Experimentation encouraged? Most definitely. The Dakota County Analog Delay from Sioux Guitars is one of the funnest, affordable and excellent-sounding delays we’ve had come through in a hot minute. Continuing their streak of mind0blowing gear at reasonable prices and always built to last, these guys are the real deal – be sure to check out their website for ALL the effects they’ve got comin’at’cha, but not before you take a look and listen to our stereo demo video below.

Cheers!
