Oooooohhhhhhh…..NEW DELAY DAY! We love ’em, and are super-stoked about his one, people. The Temporal Tap Machine from MAK Crazy Sound Technology not only has one of the longest combined names we’ve come across, but has killer delay tones, a ton of sonic options and fantastic sounds to heighten and excite all of your guitar-playing endeavors. With so much packed into a small enclosure, there’s a lot to chat about, so let’s get to it.
The controls here feature some usual suspects and some creative and unusual parameters, all adding up to one of the funnest delays we’ve seen in a hot minute. Time sets the delay time (up to 600ms), and can be set by a knob OR by the Tap footswitch. Mix blends your wet and dry signals together, and Feedback sets the number of repeats. There’s a Reverb control here as well, which lets you brilliantly blend in as much reverb as you feel you need, from none at all to a huge wash, with subtle increases along the way. These two effects have always been a perfect match, and their pairing on the Temporal Tap Machine continues this strong tradition.
A couple of toggle switches make an appearance on this gray beauty as well, the first of which is a Mode switch. Here, you can select from Analog (warm, rich soundscapes), Tape (tape delay, ala the RE-201 Space Echo) or Datura, which adds an octave up to each repeat, creating a new world of echo tones perfect for exploration and deciphering. The Kill/Dry switch seeks to help neutralize any unwanted phase distortion when mixed with other effects, adding an effect to your signal in Dry mode, and acting as a blend when in Kill mode.
Perfectly-sized, full of functionality and sounding just incredible, the Temporal Tap Machine is a true undiscovered gem. If this is any indication of the kind of effects that the crew over at MAK Crazy Sound Technology are producing, we absolutely cannot wait to get our hands on some more. Check the demo below (don’t forget to subscribe, too) to hear the TTM in action, and don’t hesitate to head over to the MAK Facebook page for more info about this up-and-coming company hailing from Russia. Cheers!
