Today’s guest review comes to us from Coe S. – find him on Instagram (@coeschneider) and say Hi!
You could say I have a problem. Maybe even an addiction. But at least I’m smart about it. Sometimes the urge, the need, the compulsion to buy another fuzz pedal comes on strong. What would you do? If you’re thinking the ELECA EFZ-3 Fuzz could scratch that itch, you’d be right.
I was hoping to pick up something crazy and cool on the cheap. You know, with a dollar amount low enough to fly under the financial radar in our household and I came across this sub $30 fuzz. Notoriously, you can get cheap plastic pedals with subpar tone in them for that price any day of the week and they’ll last you a month maybe two before you tire of it or it breaks. I expected this to be the same. It is not. A nice metal enclosure with a decent paint job on it, chicken head pointer knobs and an actual cool-sounding fuzz.
Now, I’m not saying its the most versatile or ground breaking fuzz out there, but it’s got a few pleasantly good sounds in there. It’s gonna find its way on my board thru the rotations with the best of them. I almost would dare to say this thing could grow a cult following. I’ve already purchased a second and may grab a third before anyone actually reads this review. If nothing else, it could be a cool mod platform or cheap gift for guitar playing friends.
The ELECA EFZ-3 Fuzz was good purchase as far as I’m concerned and it’s got me interested a couple of their others, too.
