Plasma Pedals Primary FuzzMmmmmm…..Fuzzzzzzz….. We’re hooked here at POTD, which is why we were once again super-excited for today’s featured pedal to show up on our doorstep. The Primary Fuzz is Plasma Pedals’ take on the classic Fuzz Face circuit. With a broad range of sounds available, both vintage and modern, this thing slices and dices any mix that stands in its way, and makes your amp come alive as well. Let’s check out this primary-colored little gem, shall we?

The Primary Fuzz has a simple control panel, making its ease of use an excellent feature right from the get go. Volume, of course, adjusts the pedal’s overall output, with no shortage of power and oomph from this black-sparkled beauty. Fuzz is also pretty much a no-brainer, although this knob is a bit different from your standard distortion effect. Usually, even when you roll back the gain on a pedal of this type, you still get some sort of dirt. Not here – back off the fuzz a bit and the Primary Fuzz turns into a primary Boost, perfect for driving a great tube amp.

The Edge control is another non-standard feature of this fuzz. When maxed out, the pedal’s voltage runs regular, but roll the Edge back, and the voltage lessens, producing a vintage dying battery-type of sound. This no only opens up more sonic possibilities, but easily allows you to dig in and find the heralded vintage fuzz tones which so many of us long to discover for ourselves, all with the roll of this special control.

Going from bluesy to grungy with the twist of a knob, there are even a couple trim pots inside the pedal for even more fine tuning of the sound. The bright and bold red, blue and yellow knobs really make the Primary Fuzz stand out on any board, or in any situation. All this comes with a low price point, making it a very accessible and useful piece of gear for players of all types and skill sets. Thanks so much to the crew at Plasma Pedals for contacting us about this multi-colored masterpiece – if this is any indication of the power and craftsmanship that’s still to come from them, then we’re all in for a great ride. Be sure to head to their Reverb shop to grab one for yourself, and stay tuned for more reviews and demos of their pedals in the hopefully-not-too-distant future!
