First of all, Welcome to 2017, everybody! Hope you all had an excellent and safe holiday season – now let’s get back into some pedal reviews! Today’s “pedal” is really a power supply, but one that is new, unique and innovative, and will surely become a standard use supply in the years to come. The Power Box Lithium from our friends at Big Joe Stomp Box Company is small, powerful, easy to use and essential to maintain clarity and power to your rig.
Right away, you’ll notice that this guy is small….and it really is, measuring only 3.25″ x 1.625″ x 1.25″. The minute proportions make sure it will easily fit onto ANY pedalboard, or right underneath it if need be, with a simple strip of velcro. The Lithium Power Box is charged up by your computer via a USB cable, with the LED display telling you exactly how much juice you’ve got to work with at any given time.
This display also lets you know what the total current draw currently is, which makes powering a multitude of pedals a cinch. In addition, it will tell you how much time you have left, ensuring you never run out of power during a gig. Plus, it eliminates any hum, noise or interference problems that can occur when using AC line fed power sources, keeping your tone crystal clear and sounding great.
We tested the PB-107 Power Box Lithium out with a pedal lineup that included a Paradox Effects Oniric Delay, a Fulltone MDV Mini Deja Vibe, a Way Huge Supa Puss Analog Delay and a Small Grey Pedals Europa Reverb, and it powered them all like a champ. No hiss, no noise, tone sounded great and the lack of a cord running to the wall was the cherry on top. Charge it up, plug it in and let ‘er rip, this little guy does not disappoint. Thanks to Big Joe for letting us check it out – it is a welcome addition to our setup, and will be used to power many pedal reviews for years to come.
