Today’s guest review comes to us from Sean G. – find him on Instagram (@TheNoiseReel), Twitter (@TheNoiseReel) and Facebook (The Noise Reel).Sometimes I find myself not wanting to share a special piece of gear that I use only because it feels like I found something so in tune with what I hear in my head that it would somehow become less special. Like the more people that know about this the less special it somehow becomes. Sometimes things just work out to match your playing and the sound you hear in your head.
One of my personal all time favorite drive pedals is the JColoccia Guitars Id. It’s a low to mid gain overdrive with treble, bass, and mid controls as well as a voice toggle to help with a less or more compressed signal and provide more options when working with different guitar and amp combinations. The powerful eq options is just that…powerful. We’re not talking loads of gain here either but rather a tasteful base drive to a slightly boosted/crunchy tone. Perfect.
It’s a great time to be a guitarist looking for drive pedals when someone is so attentive to even the smallest detail like JColoccia is. When I first received the Id I did some YouTube research on the man and the company and was surprised to find pedal building tutorials and soldering info and even his opinions on what batteries work best with his pedals. The guy is the real deal and his pedals show it.
Enjoy one of my personal favorite drive pedals from a true boutique builder in the Id overdrive from JColoccia! And I’ve played a lot…
