Ground Control Audio Amaterasu Bright Pre-Amp

We’ve partnered up with our friends Ground Control Audio a couple times over the last few months to check out their rad lineup of pedals, and today it looks like we’re gonna do it again! Their latest offering is the aesthetically pleasing and excellent sounding (and hard to pronounce at first) Amaterasu Bright Pre-Amp, a simple, down-to-earth boost that offers a couple different options, and will send your amp into the tone stratosphere.

Let’s give it a whirl, shall we?

The Amaterasu is a pre-amp/boost/tone-enhancer rolled into one easy-to-use pedal. With up to +18dB available to crush anything in its path, this Eastern-inspired designed and slick-looking pedal delivers more than it promises…plus more on top of that. The simple control section doesn’t take a degree from (insert your favorite prissy college here) to figure out. The lone knob is labeled as Gain, and represents the way to add volume into your signal path, from a slight boost in your tone to a balls-out pre-amp tone that will rock your world. There’s a solo toggle as well, which gives you the option to select Bright mode, which lets the higher frequencies through, while providing a clearer tone. The un-Bright mode gives off more of a brooding, dark, angry-at-the-world-in-a-good-way type of feel.

Like we said earlier, tone shaping is a real key to the Amaterasu, as it just adds in that certain *sparkle* that we all look for in pedals of this nature, and really brings your amp to life. Responsive at heart, it can also bring your low-output single coil or filteron pickups to life, adding some extra juice and oomph to those as well, for a more well-rounded and fuller tone.
