Some effects pedals are created to strictly do one thing: make noise. Today’s pedal is not just a fuzz, not just a distorter of sound, not just an eardrum blaster, but a little box of noise-infused noise, with a light dusting of noise on top. Loud Loud Loud is the best way to describe the Fūzwami Fuzz from Friday Club Pedals, although that is not all it can do, as we shall find out.
The controls on the Fūzwami are labeled differently than most fuzz boxes, so it took a second to figure them out, but it wasn’t too tough. Boom is the Volume control here, and there is so much on tap, you will not be able to handle it (most likely). Forget about cutting THRU the mix, you will just straight up CUT the mix, leaving it bloody and embarrassed, lying on the floor in a pool of shame and self-loathing. Slice comes up next in the control department, and it appears to be a Tone control of some type, although the range doesn’t seem to be too huge, as it shouldn’t for a pedal with this amount of punishment spewing from its insides. Finally, the Bang control is a Gain/Fuzz Boost-type of knob, just adding more power into this super-box of sonic death, making it just that much bolder and destructive.
Live in an apartment? Enjoy hearing birds chirping and children’s laughter? Maybe this isn’t the pedal for you, then, as it will destroy the weak-eared with a quickness (we’re still recovering, actually). It sure is a badass little pice of gear, though, just not for the faint of heart. Cheers to Jack DeVille on yet another masterpiece of a pedal, one that’s sure to be talked about for a long time to come. These Friday Club pedals give you a big bang for your buck, allowing you to try one or all 8 (so far) effects in their lineup without breaking your piggy bank…which might just happen on its own if it happens to be in the same room when you turn on the Fūzwami.
