The third pedal in the current lineup of Cathouse Pedals that we get the pleasure to check out today is a complex and option-filled distortion/overdrive. The Screamer will keep you on your toes as you attempt to figure out just what it is, and how it can benefit you sound. Relatively simple but full of flavor and oomph, this thing comes at you like a ton a rock and roll bricks.
Gain, Tone and Volume all show up on the control panel, and why shouldn’t they? This is a distortion and overdrive pedal, right? Loads of volume to work with, a big range on the perfectly tuned Tone control, making it great for both bass and guitar, plus a HUGE amount of Gain for you to play with and make your amp sob just a wee bit. The fun here comes in the craftily-located toggle switch on the side, which lets you select from unclipped boost, germanium clipping or silicon clipping profiles. These three options really open up The Screamer and let it loose, with many different sounds to play with, and mix in perfectly with the rest of your setup.
If you still don’t know yet, 5 bucks from each Cathouse Pedal you buy goes to local animal rescue groups they work with, which just makes them even awesomer than they already were. The Screamer is boost/distortion/overdrive wrapped up in one tiny enclosure, just waiting to explode onto the scene and get the party started. Look for our review on the final pedal of their current lineup coming after the new year. And as Cathouse says, “Be loud and proud, but don’t expect your neighbors to like it.”
