Mountainking Electronics Frequency~LSD Where to even begin with today’s featured pedal? It’s kind of a fuzz, and a partial distortion, but it’s also a tone-shaper, ring mod, oscillator, cosmic sitar and more. A truly unique pedal in a sea of effects, the Frequency~LSD from Mountainking Electronics is guaranteed to make you laugh, cry for help, weep uncontrollably and jump for joy…all in the same half hour.

Out is the overall volume control. Done. Color is similar to a high-cut tone knob, but you have play around with it to figure it out, as is the case with most of the controls here. Sag lets you starve the voltage that the pedal receives, getting nice and glitchy and spastic and delicious. Feedback is a real oddball – it controls the depth of the internal feedback loop, but will also go into oscillation…if you use the right PICKUPS. WTF? It’s awesome, trust us.

The Frequency toggle switch lets you adjust the low end frequency content the pedal puts out. Position 1 seems to suit guitar players, while Position 2 is a must-use for bassists, but, as with everything else encompassing the Frequency~LSD, it’s all about experimentation, so you should pretty much just toss the manual in the recycle bin when you get the pedal, and tell your family you’ll see them in a week, if they’re lucky.

Mountainking Electornics LogoOverall, this little orange beauty is really a beast in disguise: a cunning sonic shape-shifter destined to destroy anything and everything in its path, but leave a smile on the faces of anyone who goes near it. Our new friends at Mountainking Electronics describe this pedal as a “truly psychedelic music-making machine, full of cosmic-sitar vibrations, consciousness-altering oscillations, and mind-expanding timbral experiences”, and we couldn’t agree more. Thanks so much to those guys for letting us experiment with one of the more unique pedals we’ve ever seen (and we’ve seen a LOT) – the demo below will give you a tiny window into this pedal’s power, but you should probably just head over and grab one for yourself, dont’cha think?
