Happy Labor Day to all our followers in the United States! Hope you’ll be kicking back with a cold one and some tasty grilled food later on this afternoon, and enjoying the day off (for those of you who have it). In other news…It’s pretty hard not to be impressed by the sheer volume of pedals that come pouring out of the Edmond, OK offices of Keeley Electronics – what’s even more incredible is how they’re all so innovative and made with such quality. Today’s pedal, the Delay Workstation, is a prime example of just that, packing 2 pedals and about a million different tones into a pedalboard-friendly enclosure, with a control section that you can figure out without having graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard.
On the Reverb side, you’ve got 8 different modes to choose from: Spring, Chamber, Hall, Plate, Shimmer, Flanged, Tape (Delay) and Digital (Delay). These modes are all controlled by Blend, Decay, Predelay and Morph control knobs, with each one controlling different variables of each parameter depending on what mode you’re currently in. The Delay section of the Workstation boasts Slapback, Tape, Multihead, Analog, Digital, Subdivided, Ducking and Pitch delay modes, which are controlled by Blend, Time, Feedback and Morph controls.
The Delay Workstation also features Stereo Output jacks, for the creation of walls and layers of delayed and reverberated effects, coming at you from all angles imaginable. An Expression in jack lets you plug in an optional expression pedal to control the Decay of the Reverb, as well as a Tap Tempo input to set the Delay Time with an external switch. Using these two sections together or separately will give you hours, even days of experimentation, and make sure you have a pad and pencil ready to write down the settings you find that work for you, as there are going to be a LOT of them.
A powerful, dual DSP processor delay-and-reverb-in-one machine, the Delay Workstation features everything you need from both reverb and delay pedals, but combined and able to work with one another in musical harmony. From simple slapback delay and slight reverb sounds to chaotic flanged echoes and booming, spacious reverb, there’s hardly a bad sound to be found in this neat and tidy little effects box. Cheers once again to Robert, Craighton and the whole crew at Keeley Electronics for pumping out another spectacular piece of music gear for us all to enjoy. If for some reason you don’t have at least one Keeley pedal on your board, or you do and need another, be sure to head over to their website for an array of effects unparalleled in today’s gear-infused world!
