Death By Audio Ghost Delay The folks at Death By Audio somehow continue to amaze, surprise and delight us lovers of crazy effects, and our featured pedal today is one of their best yet. Combining three separate delay circuits into one incredible echo machine, the Ghost Delay takes every expectation or thought about delay you may have previously held and tosses it right into the river, tied to a cement block for good measure. Think we’re joking? Well, hop aboard the crazy train, and let’s find out what this lily-white beast can achieve…

The control panel for a pedal like this, you might think, would need to be confusing and frustrating to decipher; actually, it’s rather straightforward and simple to figure out how it initially works, but the rest is up to you. Basically, there are three delays, each with a Time and Feedback control attached to them. This simple lineup allows you to manipulate each of these delay circuits as you see fit, then combine them however you’d like using the unique Blend switch, which is strangely labeled 1-4.

What’s the “4” for, you ask? Well, that’s what we’re here for, to put your mind at ease and explain! When you switch the Blend knob to the 4 position, the Ghost Delay lets all 3 circuits go a bit haywire and throw convention right out the window, creating some seriously intense and unpredictable sonic soundscapes, which you may or may not be able to control. On top of all that, there’s even a Master knob to let you set the overall volume this pedal puts out, just in case things start to get out of hand.

Continuing to step up their unblemished reputation in the pedal building world, Death By Audio takes it up a notch with the Ghost Delay, leaving many echo pedals in its wake as it blows past them without a second thought. If you want a traditional delay, it will even do that, too, but where’s the fun in that, really? If you want to get crazy, get experimental and get off the beaten delay path, the Ghost Delay is your ticket to another world of echoes, exploration and madness.
