When you hear the name “Warped Vinyl,” you’re transported to a thrift store record bin. All the records you find in there are dusty, scratched, sunbaked; they’ve seen better days. But you buy one because it’s only a buck. And besides, who wouldn’t want to hear Led Zeppelin III the way your dad heard it in the 70’s?

Now, when you see the name “Warped Vinyl” on a *pedal*, you scratch your head and wring your hands. This pedal is going to introduce some unpredictable, lo-fi noise-making to my pristine signal chain. Fortunately, I love that sort of thing.

At ~$350 for a modulation pedal, you’re going past boutique pedal prices and closer to Strymon territory. But the Warped Vinyl MkII “True Pitch” Analog Chorus/Vibrato from Chase Bliss Audio is worth every penny for its versatility. Not only do you get messed-up vibrato and crazy chorus tones out of it, but if you tweak the ModuShape toggle switches, depth, and warp knobs, you can also coax subtle flange and choppy tremolo sounds from it, too!

And that’s before you even get to the MIDI functionality, expression pedal fun and rear dip switches. Hell, I’ve even turned the modulation completely off and used it to boost and warm up my overdrives. There’s no end to what the Warped Vinyl can do. It’s just a bonus that it does everything with a dusty charm.
