A take on the classic circuit made popular by the rare and ever-elusive Interfax Harmonic Percolator, the Headache is ramped up to 11 and a half, for all the balls-out grit your amp and eardrums can take. Part overdrive, part distortion and part square-wave noise machine, this thing will get down-right filthy if you crank it, but can also clean up pretty well, too, for a more normal-sounding effect (but who wants that?). Plus, with the artwork being an ode to Big Black’s “Songs About Fucking” album, this thing is a true gem of genius.

Having only two control knobs, the Headache Harmonic Percolator doesn’t require a physics degree to figure out, but harnesses some hidden tones nonetheless. The Harmonics knob adjusts the level of gain the effects will produce, from a low buzz to crazy, glitchy, square-wave territory. The Balance knob, on the other hand, ATTEMPTS to control the overall output volume, although this is more of a suggestion than anything else. Mix-and-match these two controls at will, and get ready for some dirty, fuzzy, experimental distortion sounds to come flying out of your amp.
