Welcome to our first installment of Guest Review Fridays! Each week we will feature a guest reviewer who will offer their unique and personal look at one of their favorite pedals – if you’d like to be semi-famous and get published here on Pedal of the Day, click here to submit your own pedal review, and join in the conversation! Our flagship Friday reviewer is Scott W. – catch him over on Instagram (@honey.power) or Facebook (Scott Willems) if you want to say hi!
The TC Electronic Hall of Fame is a wonderful digital reverb pedal. It contains 10 well-voiced reverbs ranging from classic hall, spring, and plate, to a massive, lush cathedral – plus modulated, lofi, tile, ambient, and gated verbs, providing endless possibilities in ones search for the perfect reverb tone. This pedal is also TonePrint enabled, furthering tone customization – allowing you to build your own reverb from the ground up.
The Hall of Fame is a fairly intuitive pedal, featuring only four knobs and a switch, three of those being parameters for decay, tone, and an FX level. The fourth knob selects one of the 10 voices or the TonePrint function. The switch is simple, allowing you to choose between a short or long predelay.
It is extremely easy to dial in a good tone on the Hall of Fame. It is excellent in front of a clean amp, providing as much space as you need, from a light spring reverb that will enhance any chord to a lush modulated reverb that will add nice movement to single note lines. This pedal pairs very nicely with transparent overdrives and distortion. My favorite tone from this pedal comes from putting it before the OD in your chain, causing the reverberations to distort. You can achieve massive walls of sound with chords and single note melodies – perfect for any shoegazers pedalboard.
This pedal comes in a typical TC Electronic housing – very sturdy and well built. It has four jacks, two inputs and two outputs for stereo compatibility, which sounds great split in to two amps on opposite sides of a room. The bypass switch isn’t my favorite, but is fairly strong and will cause no problems.
TC Electronic hit it out of the park with the Hall of Fame, boasting countless reverb voices that every guitar player should have on their board at some point – maybe it’s the only reverb anyone would ever need!
