Like most children of the ’70s and ’80s (and millions more since then), the movie Back To The Future has a special significance to me, and to a lot of you all as well, I assume. Seen countless times, quoted a million more, it’s a perfect blend of comedy, sci-fi, witty dialogue and great storytelling. Therefore, when I unwrapped a package from the UK from our friends at MM Effects, I was in awe and full of joy to witness the Outatime Drive, today’s featured overdrive pedal.
Volume, Gain and Tone are the classic overdrive control makeup here, with each knob boasting a clear and broad range for their respective sonic assignments. There’s a toggle switch as well, which goes back and forth between Low and High frequency adjustments. The Outatime Drive can be used as a nice, crisp boost if needed, or turn into a beastly overdrive machine as you crank up the Gain control. Looking for that classic rock amp tone? Look no further.
As great as the Outatime Drive sounds, it’s looks are right on as well. Taking inspiration from that classic movie I mentioned earlier, the gun metal enclosure easily resembles a time-traveling Delorean, and when you engage the effect, the LED Flux Capacitor even light up, to let you know you’re working with an important piece of gear. Thanks once again to MM Effects for sending this great overdrive/piece of childhood nostalgia, it was a pleasure to play this inspiring overdrive.
