Today’s featured pedal is a modern take on a classic distortion effect. Based on the famous Interfax Harmonic Percolator, the Harmonik Germanium Fuzz from Dubrek Audio Boutique boasts the same type of fuzzy distorted sounds as the vintage unit, but with a couple of modern upgrades.
Level and Gain are the only two control knobs present on the Harmonik, alongside a lone toggle switch. Both knobs feature a broad range, with plenty of output volume to work with, and an excellent range of fuzzy distorted overdrive sounds to work with in the Gain section. The toggle switch lets you add the germanium diodes into the circuit for a powerful, octave-like fuzz feel, or switch them out for a more classic sound.
Featuring the same ideas and sounds as the Harmonic Percolator, the Harmonik Germanium Fuzz boasts a re-engineered design to improve the overall filtering and control of the pedal, and they added a nice on/off LED as well. This is the second of two pedals we’re reviewed from Dubrek Audio Boutique (the other one being their Sonik Glitch pedal), and we are really excited to see what comes next from this company hailing from the UK. Check out the video to hear what this pedal can do, then head over to the Dubrek website to snag one for yourself!
