Happy Valentine’s Day, pedal people! Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get down to some serious delay business, cool? Is there a better way to celebrate this most joyous of fake holidays than with a giant, pink pedal? I don’t think so, no. Maxon has been in the mix as far as killer analog delays are concerned for years, and today’s pedal is absolute echo beast, full of bold delay tones, classic sounds and even a touch of overdrive. The AD999 Analog Delay is an easy-to-use but powerful delay pedal, one that’s sure to impress with ease.

Delay Time, Repeat and Delay Level are the only controls you’ll need to worry about with the AD999, and trust us, the sound coming from this simple control setup will speak clearly for itself. The Delay Time features an excellent range of echoes, all the way up to 900ms, which should be plenty for the majority of your delay needs. The Repeats feature a bit of distortion presence the higher up you turn them, making this already stand-out of a pedal even more so. Finally, the Delay Level mixes your wet and dry signals to taste, allowing you to control how much or how little of the echoes you want present in your mix.

The real key to this awesome delay is the Analog-ness of it. 100% analog pedals aren’t as easy to come by as they used to be, especially ones with eight custom Bucket Brigade IC’s for the delicious vintage tones we all strive to achieve. The Repeats section really makes the AD999 shine as well, able to work well by beefing up a clean signal, or adding another dimension to an overdriven one. Plus, if you’re one for noisy experimentation, this pink beauty will get into some wicked self-oscillation, opening up the path to creativity in any musical genre.

With a pedal like the AD999, there’s not much to say about it until you’ve heard it for yourself. Featuring Stereo Outputs, true bypass and an all-analog signal, this is one sweet piece of gear that belongs on pedalboards the world over. Thanks to Kevin from Godlyke Distributing for sending this over for us to check out, stay tuned for more Maxon pedal reviews coming in the near future!
