Today marks the start of our “Moog Week” here at Pedal of the Day. All this week, we’re going to be checking out some of the coolest pedals that Moog has got to offer, and since the rest of them are all Moogerfoogers, we’re going to jump into this with our lone Minifooger for the week, the all-analog MF Delay. Smaller in size than the larger Moogerfoogers, these Minifoogers are great if you need to save some pedalboard space, or if you want a Moog pedal with a limited amount of controls, for easy plug-and-play action.
The controls are pretty easy to figure out here, which is a bit of a change of pace from some of the other pedals we’ll be reviewing this week (no offense to them, by any means). Time boasts a nice range of delay times, from 35ms up to 750ms, allowing for everything from beautiful slapback sound, to long, drawn-out and dark analog repeats. The Feedback section will go from one single repeated note all the way up into self-oscillation territory, for some crazy experimental sounds waiting to be discovered.
The Drive is a cool control unique to the MF Delay, and fairly unusual for the vast majority of delay pedals. This section gives you up to 22db of gain, so you can dial it in to be a mild boost, a warm and inviting low gain or a pretty powerful drive section that pairs up well with the delays. The final control is Mix, which is your basic blend knob, bringing together the Wet and Dry signals in any configuration you choose.
Plus, there’s an Expression pedal jack as well, which lets you control either the Time or Feedback functions, letting you really mix it up on the fly. What a great way to start this week off, uh? This little delay is sure to surprise you, and though smaller than its bigger brothers, the Minifooger MF Delay has some great features, and that signature Moog sound as well. If you want to get a look and listen at this guy’s big brother, check back on Friday for our review of the MF-104M Delay, and keep checking back daily this week for more fantastic Moog pedals!

*this is the second time we’re reviewing this pedal, but we needed a fifth Moog product to have a
complete Moog Week, so hopefully there’s some new insight for you this time around!*
