As it turns out, there are some very interesting guitar pedals being made in Russia. I’m not sure what it is – maybe the cold, maybe the vodka, but the inventions coming out of the former USSR are something to behold. A prime example is today’s pedal, the Reverber Reverb from Beard Custom. Not your everyday reverb, this thing boasts some powerful options and gorgeous tones, sure to bring a smile to many faces the world over. At first glance, you’re not sure if the Reverber is a pedal or a work of psychotic art, but you quickly realize that it is absolutely both. Featuring trippy graphics and a bunch of controls, this is one pedal that is fun to sit down with, stare at for a while, then really delve into what it can do for your sound. It also has a rad effects loop, too, but we’ll get into that a little bit later.
The Dwell and Tone knobs really work together in this pedal, bouncing ideas back and forth off of one another to create a perfect sonic storm. The Mix knob blends the wet and dry signals to taste, and the Volume affects to overall output from the Reverber. While these controls are fairly common in most reverb pedals, this funky and colorful effect doesn’t stop there – for those looking to get crazy, the Reverber features a built-in Effects Loop. Plug any other kind of effect you want into here (delay and octave are both awesome), and watch this pedal open up. With so many different effects to choose from, the combinations and sounds produced are virtually never-ending, making it a key for improvisation and experimentation.
There’s a Mode switch on top as well, which lets you toggle back and forth between the effects loop being on or off. Plus, you can also adjust how much of the loop effect shows up in the reverberated sound as well, using the Loop Level knob, making this one fully customizable pedal. As you’ll see in the video, the overall range of reverb tones that soar out of this thing is huge, with the ability to do everything from a light echoed blanket of sound, to huge, fat, crazy reverbs, adding an entirely new dimension to your rig.
Hand soldered, using high-quality components as well, the Reverber Reverb from Beard Custom looks great on the outside, and sounds great due to the inner workings of the inside. Creating lush reverberated landscapes with ease, and adding in an element of surprise with that sweet effects loop, this is one purple bastard that’s sure to get your creative juices a-flowin’. Just really getting their feet off the ground, keep an eye out for more products from Beard Custom, as well as a new website in the near future – you never know what these kids from halfway around the world are going to wow us with next!
