A number of pedals from our friends at Fuchs Audio Technology have been reviewed here at Pedal of the Day, and they are always a real audio treat. From delay to distortion and everything in between, Fuchs makes some great effects pedals, and they have also created some stunning high-end amplifiers as well (check them out HERE). Today’s pedal, the Crème de la Trem, is a tremolo that features a little different flavor from the other Fuchs pedals we’ve seen, but works as a powerful way to add some sustenance to your amp’s tone.
Based on the tremolo found in Fender Brownface amplifiers, the Crème de la Trem is a pedal with simple controls and huge sound, something all guitar players can appreciate. While it can’t exactly match the sounds from those classic amps (can anything?), it gets pretty damn close, and can add a subtle hint of chorus or even a Leslie-type rotary sound to your rig with little-to-no effort. Rate (speed) and Depth (intensity) are the only controls on the Crème de la Trem, and really all that you need from such an amazing-sounding tremolo pedal.
With a simple control section and some of the warmest, truest Brownface recreations you’ll find anywhere, the Crème de la Trem is both a pleasure to play and a throwback to a classic sound. Perfect for playing that great late 60’s surf rock, as well as modern stuff and classic rock, this pedal will become an important part of your signature sounds almost immediately after you plug your guitar into it. Thanks again to Andy and everyone at Fuchs Audio Technology for gracing us with this awesome powerhouse of a tremolo – since there’s not much chance of being able to afford the original anytime soon, we’ll take something that really recreates their sound for the time being.
